“The Railway Channel was born as a direct
result of the growth of broadband through - out the world. Suddenly, and it was sudden, here was a way for programme makers to get their films direct to the intended audiences
It’s an exciting period and not all is as wonderful as it can be - for instance broadband speeds
here in the UK can vary greatly - but there’s no doubt in anyone’s mind that this is the way it’s going to be - niche programming delivered directly to the intended audience via the internet. We’re not the only people doing it - other companies stream programmes for enthusiasts of yachts and cycling for example, but we are the only ones doing it for rail fans.

We try to do more than just simply show shots of trains going past, although, of course, some of our programmes are just that (we like to think we do shots of trains going past rather quite well) but rather we like to make programmes that tell a story. It may be about somebody’s back garden, their loco, their railway or even themselves but all of them have a railway theme.

If your a rail fan with an enquiring mind and open to new experiences then you may just have found your spiritual home on the internet. You can treat us just like you would any other channel - watch a programme or two and then go - after all that’s what we’re here for. But the great thing about the internet is that you can interact and we really want to encourage that.

You don’t have to be a film maker to contribute to the site we’re just as interested in looking at photos or reading articles. We know there are a wealth of stories out there in the wide world and, like most men, we’re always keen to learn more.

We don’t have money to pay you - but we will give you a DVD from our shop o fyour choice for anything that we publish in whatever form that may be and who knows where this could lead to?

Participate in The Railway Channel and together we’ll see it grow bigger and better and that’ll be a good thing for all of us

Cheers!
