A Word From The Editor . . .
Hello and welcome to the latest edition of The Railway Channel!
So, although I'm away I still have the ability to put together each new edition of your favourite channel - and what's more the site is now developing into what was always intended - a place for film makers to showcase their talents - so look out for more variety in the films we show over the next few months.
A good example is the Wayside Light Railway film by John Downes. A long time supporter of the channel John has finally revealed that he too is a talented maker of films and this programme really does convey the atmosphere of truly wonderful gaden line. Oh, if only I had the space!
Special mention must also be made of Jonathan Newton who has volunteered to take on the role of host on Railway World. He's done a brilliant job and the fact that he lives in Melbourne, Australia, just goes to show how small our world is becoming. I know that he'd appreciate you passing on any details of clips that you might spot so please do get in touch with him via e-mail to pass on your links. Jonathan@therailwaychannel.com. Also, it might be worth pointing out that Jonathan is also doing all this in his spare time so any words of encouragement will no doubt be welcome and will help his confidence (which, being Australian he really doesn't lack) grow.
Finally I must make mention of John Raby's exquisitely shot DVDs from Cuba for which there is an amazing offer in the shop. By all three in the series and you'll save a whopping £14! Postage and packing is also included so I really do think that you should at least have a look at the trailers - these DVDs are highly recommended.
